The Vision

Two things captured Anna Taylor’s attention in Kenya: the vibrant African aesthetic and the rampant poverty in the slums on the outskirts of Nairobi. After meeting Judith, a skilled local seamstress, Anna saw beyond the poverty problem and envisioned a solution.

Anna founded Judith & James, a company dedicated to employing highly trained impoverished women to manufacture fashion forward clothing for sale in the United States. Couture fit for Milan handcrafted in Kenyan slums: fashion for the conscious cosmopolitan.

At Judith & James, we are dedicated to quality. Unlike other companies with an ethical emphasis, we are equally committed to fair processes and impeccable design. Our seamstresses must complete years of training prior to employment. Anna personally reviews each employee’s work to ensure the highest level of production standards are maintained throughout the assembly process.
